One of the purposes of The Nash Foundation is to help the communities in which F.P. and W.K. Nash placed their businesses and their families. In response to the floods that devastated Grand Forks, North Dakota in the spring of 1997, the Nash Foundation created the Grand Forks Project to help in rebuilding the community. The project was later renamed the Mary Anna Dyar Grand Forks Project, to honor the spirit and memory of Ms. Dyar, a Foundation Trustee and the last member of her generation. Initial grants were made in July and August 1997, and included over $15,000 raised from family members. Although the flood waters subsided, the Foundation continued the Grand Forks Project for 10 years.
